The Warhammer 40,000 series is becoming well known as the days pass by. If you have not read any of the Warhammer 40k, I strongly recommend that you do so as soon as possible. Just to bring you up to speed, the Warhammer 40,000 series takes place in the year 40,000. It is a time where the imperium of mankind is besieged on all sides by the forces of Choas. Each book tells the tale of how mankind fights forces of uncertain numbers throughout the galaxy. The Chapter War is one such book. You see, the Imperium has a weapon that it uses to fight the creatures in the universe, that such weapon being the space marines. A space marine is a genetically altered man who fights throughtout the galaxy. They are the best fighters ever produced anywhere ever. Ben Counter''s novels tell about when a space marine chapter turns from the light of the Imperium and travels the stars own their own free will. They become know as renegages an must be destroyed by the Imperium. The space marine chapter is called the Soul Drinkers. In the first novel, they disobey orders when an ancient artifact is stolen out from their very fingers. Because the Soul Drinkers try to reclaim the artifact, they are banished from the Imperium and are immediately marked as the enemy. Throughout books 1, 2, 3 the Soul Drinkers try to find a cure for their mutations, a kind of curse put on them for breaking away from the Imperium. The books are very exciting and are a must for sci-fi fans.
In the Chapter War, the Soul Drinkers come to the aid of a planet besieged by orks and set out to help them. But, before thechapter can save the planet, it must first save itself from the fires of civil war. Ben Counter brings us yet another thrilling tell of the noble Soul Drinkers.
