Church Under The Invocation Of The Immuculate Conception
(um)
Among other Neo-Gothic ct urches it is distiguished by the material of which it is made, the stone and a structural detail - the use of flying buttresses, spatial elements supporting the vault of the nave over the roofs of the aisles. The most precious elements of the today''s furnishings of the church are the late-Gothic triptych, Santa Conversazione from the second half of the XVth century, the Southern-German school, coming form the collection of the Rev. Szramek, a series of the stained-glass window designed by Adan Bunsch, made in "Cracovian Stained-Glass Window Works", S. G. Zelenski in Cracow, in 1936-1939, installed into the windows of the aisles. They are symbolic-flowery patterns and animal pictures, illustrating Virtues and Vices. Another stained-glass window designed by Bunsch is installed in a chapel of the Holy Sacrament: the Christ crucified together with a good rascal. In the past that stained-glass window constitued a whole with an altar, made as an initiative of Rev. E. Szramek, in Boguslaw Langmann''s studio in Cracow. Rev. E. Szramek was also an initiator to decorate the nave of the church with a series of canvases painted by Jozef Unierzyski. They are allegorical paintings with patriotic themes and also devoted to the cult of the Virain Mary. The church under the invocation of the Immuculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary was constructed in 1862-1870 and designed by Alexis Langer, working also in Wroclaw, Raciborz, Wolczyn Tuly. It is Neo-Gothic, stone, basilican, three-nave on the Latin cross view, with one-tower facade.
