Poppy Plants Brighten The Garden

Whether you groe the California poppy or the Oriental Poopy both will give your garden hues of scarlet dotted with black ,white dotted with California poppy isw named after J.F.Eschscholtz ,a Russian xpedition into the pacific .The poppy is an easy flower to grow and is also used as medicine .The Oriental Poppy is the only one that can be propagated from root cuttings .
Poppy also called Papaver with one popular variety known as Shirley Poppy has flowers that are 8 to 10 cms across and are easy to cultivate .This flower looks lovely in the shrubbery.All poppies arefun to experiment with in your garden .They are marvelous for cutting will make your drawing room look pretty .The seeds greminate easily .After the rains ,sow them in light rich organic soil and then out the young plants 25 to 30 cms apart .Water them enough to keep the soil moist .
Make sure the saplings are exposed to the sun .To increase their blooming time,keep removing the seed pods .For lovely cut flowers ,gather the looms,before the day turns really hot ,when they are only half opened .Soon after cutting ,keep the stems for a few seconds in a bowl of boiling water ,making sure that the steam does not reach the tender flowers will last much longer .You can also singe the ends ina candle flame to creat a seal .
Try planting your poppies between vegetable beds .Since poppies can survive in fairly poor soil ,they will not be affected by vwgwtables getting the nutrients and willmake the vegetable graden look pretty.

If you have headache and cannot get to sleep ,try this:fill a sock with poppy seeds and lay it across the forehead ! for healinh a petic ulcer,take a teaspoonful of poppy seeds ,and thre to five kismis (Vitex vermifera ) both mix with cold cow''s milk and drink thrice a day for 15 days .
