.Nature''s WayIndonesia suffers frequently from earthquakes and we saw how fearful they can be as with the case of the ''tsunami'' in December 2004. This country is situated on the famous ''Fire ring'' where we can find many active volcanoes and calderas . It was reported that the ''tsunami'' changed the Earth''s inclination by a few minutes of a degree. This has, of course, influence all over the planet.Several centuries ago, more precisely in 535 AD., a huge caldera blew up and the sun was obscured for 18 months, causing snow in July in Japan, problems worldwide and, in Europe, the appearance of the Plague, ''bloody'' rains, which were nothing but copper sulphate filled rains.Volcanoes and their sisters, the calderas, have a rest between periods of activity. These vary but scientists foresee the eruption of the volcano in the Canary Islands for example which can cause a ''tsunami'' great enough to change the shorelines of the US, but also affect Brazil, westward, but flood many coastal areas in Europe as well.One of the calderas of the world that has been giving signs of wanting to interfere in human affairs is situated in Pozzuoli, near Naples. Another is the Yellowstone caldera in the US.Humans go happily about their businesses without giving a thought to the workings of Mother Earth, without preparing for its more than certain activities.We don''t see the governments of countries such as Italy or Spain or the US, for that matter, alerting the populations for the eventuality of foreseeable occurrences like earthquakes and drilling them for the eventuality of it''s happening. Just to think about the magnitude of having to displace 4 million people from the site of the Ciampi-Campagna caldera is mind-boggling. However, people have to be prepared in advance so as to avoid bloodshed like we saw in Indonesia, where the authorities were more concerned with the income from the tourism industry than with saving lives.
