Resumo de Oliver Twist - Charles Dickens

This book is telling the story of a child named Oliver Twist who is an orphan. It starts with a rainy night in England. A young lady was lying down in the street suffering from great pain, she was struggling for help. At last someone came by the way and took her to a near by orphanage. Then they understood that she was going to give birth to a child and she gave birth to a boy and she died. The people there named him Oliver Twist. Then onwards he lived in that orphanage. Mrs. Man looked after the orphanage. She was very cruel and she took away all the donations paid for the orphans. Once when Oliver asked for more food he was beaten. No other children had asked like that. When he was 9 years old he was send for doing work to Mr. Nova in helping him in making coffins. He was a dirty man and he used to call bad words. Once he called bad words at Oliver and Oliver pushed him down and Oliver was beaten. That night itself he escaped from that place and went away. He started walking along the road to London and finally reached London. There he got 2 friends Jack and Charlie who were crooks. Their head was Mr. Fagan. Mr. Fagan and his gang took Oliver for a robbery and he was caught. Actually Oliver didn?t do anything, the others only robbed. Mr. Brownlock caught him, when he heard his story he became kind to Oliver and took him to his house. That was the first time he found love . From there Mr. Fagan?s gang kidnapped Oliver. He was then taken for another robbery and then also he was caught. That was the house of a kind woman Miss Mayley. An orphan lady named Rose also lived there. Miss Mayley felt sad about Oliver and he lived there, Miss Mayley became his stepmother. Oliver told his story to her and she informed Mr. Brownlock about Oliver that Oliver was not a thief and he was a good boy and all. One day they got news that a lady in the orphanage in which Oliver was born ,died. Before she died she passed to another lady some ornaments which Oliver?s mother before her death had given her. One was a locket in which it was written ?Agnes?. Then a new villain come up his name is Max. He teamed up with Fagan to capture Oliver. But Nancy who was the lover of Jack passed the news to Oliver?s stepmother and for this Jack beat Nancy and she fell dead and that made Jack mad. Hearing all these Mr. Brownlock captured Max and questioned him. Now the secrets are revealed. Oliver?s father had 2 wives, first wife?s son was Max and second wife Agnes? son was Oliver. Their father?s will was to give major portion of his wealth to Oliver. That?s why Max tried to kill Oliver. He had already destroyed the only clue , the locket of Oliver?s mother Agnes. They understood that the orphan lady living with Miss Mayley was Oliver?s mother?s sister. At last all the riddles are solved and settled. All the crooks were sent to jail. Oliver started his new life.
