Do You Believe In Ghosts?

My name is Eric. Do you believe in ghosts? I didn?t until I
had this experience. I took a jog as a temporary teacher while waiting for my
school results. As I was posted to a small town some distance away from my
hometown, I decided to put up at that place.
I was housed in one of the government quarters there. The
house was built in colonial style with a kitchen and attached room away from
the main house. I was glad to be given the room beside the kitchen. ?I would
have far more privacy here,? I thought to myself as I unpacked my belongings.
The first week went by without a hitch. I was setting in happily. Peculiar
things began to happen in the second week. Doors would creak open by themselves
in the middle of the night and exercise book which I had left on the table
would be scattered all over the floor. One day I woke up to find myself
sleeping on the floor beside my bed instead of being on the bed!!! I mentioned
these strange happenings to my neighbours in the quarters. At first they
dismissed my claims saying that I was imagining them. ?no such things ever
happened while other people stayed in that room,? they told me. But when they
saw I was truly frightened, they decided to keep watch at night. But strangely
enough, nothing out of the ordinary happened that night. And so my neighbours
left after giving me some curios and questioning looks. Life was pretty
uneventful for the next few days. I was slowly coming to believe that the
strange incidents may have stopped for good. Early one morning I woke up shivering
with cold. I was dumbfounded to myself, in night clothes, outside the house
instead of being on my bed!!! I packed my bags immediately and left. As for the
teaching job, I carried on until I got my results, travelling daily from my
hometown.
