The War In Rio De Janeiro Makes Another Victim

The war in Rio de Janeiro makes more victims. How much does a life cost in Brazil? It does not value anything if who dies is not a voter, a politician or an important authority. The citizens becomes important in the Country after he is 16. Mainly during the electoral campaign, the politician looks at the voter and sees only a number and does not notice that his number is a human being, with heart, with blood running in the veins, with feelings. An episode like the one that victimized the kid João Helio Fernandes in Rio de Janeiro, provokes indignation and revolt. Enough with violence and impunity, enough with smooth laws which allows the action and the criminal behavior of the outlaws and the politicians. This is a moment for reflection in our society. Is this the society we desire, that scythe a life as if it was a game in the computer, a society where few are privileged and fortunate while the majority must keep the wolf from the door, suffering with hunger, unemployment, lack of education, lack of security, amongst much others. In a moment as such we cannot discuss this episode emotionally, the question is bigger. To decrease the legal age to 16 to punish the infractors that commit any crimes won?t change the present situation, but may be able to reduce crime. There is a lack of political will to solve the matter, as generating source of the violence is the organized crime. Many 16 year old boys and girls and even younger?s are recruited by the militia, by the drugs army which had power over the community.
