Gorilas In The Mist
(CenturyChild)
Gorillas are the largest of all the primates. A male gorilla can be 180 cm tall and weigh 200 kg. Gorillas are very strong but they do not often fight. In fact they are peaceful animals. In some ways gorillas are very like humans. When they are happy, they laugh and wave their arms. When they are angry, they beat their chests. When they are sad, they cry. But they cry quietly, without any tears. Unfortunately, people hunt and kill gorillas. They also cut down and burn their trees. There are now only about 10.000 gorillas left in the world. The director of the film shows us the real life and the personality of these beautiful animals. The film shows that gorillas are one of the most gentale, pacific and proud animals that exist. David Attenborough and Sigourney Weaver showed us this. In their film the story shows also that man is the predator, who kills gorillas to use as souvenir objects and systematically destroys their natural habitat. The birth of a baby gorilla, Cyabirego, brings hope that he will up and be abble to give protection to the others. Let?s hope he survives. In ,,Gorillas in the Mist?, the actress portrays the American scientist Dian Fossey, who studied and safeguarded the animals for 18 years until 1985 when she was killed with machete by an unidentified murder at her Karisoke research camp. It also shows the beauty of the forests in Africa in Rwanda. The film makes people think about animals which are in danger of extraction. Although the story makes people cry it brings hope that if we stop hunters from killing wild animals they will survive.
