The cover of the book shows the netting view of big Brown being gingerly coaxed closer and having the a Tier''s hackle fly stuck in its upper mandible (e) His idea of ''streamer has animal hair on it not long flimsy plumage I''ve used. There are also ''muddlers in the book that look nice. The book has a nice Table Contents. The Introduction has a good menu list of the materials needed for each type of Tie. Part I consists of Trout Fly Basics -- on fast moving water Mr. Hughes likes floating Flies --- I would concur. Part II Searching flies for trout -- wet to less-wet. Mr. Hughes streamers are sort of wooly, smaller, brown flies -- Tied to either #10 or # 12 sized hooks. Mr. Hughes put a stream creature likeness photograph of a little brown fish, the sculpin to which his bait making goes in color and shape. He has other tied flies he calls -- searchers and nymphs, the later which simulates an early stage of a water insects development when the bug emerges from the depths of water to the be on its surface -- more easily seen by fish. Mr. Hughes has another set of flies he ties called soft hackles, flymps, weizels and streamers that are wet flies. Part III Flies for Trout Food forms -- there are big hatches of short-lived, water=born, and terrestrially-born insects that are natural food for stream trout. You''d better use flies that look like the hatch. Do this when the hatch is a big one. It might be the only thing the trout is up for. But Mr. Hughes adds that --it helps to have several pattern styles available when you are fishing over a single hatch.... This is important book, because Fly Fishing a trout stream gets you into nature in such a fantastic way.
