Red Tears
(Janna Kenrick)
This book is about a girl by the named, Emily Bowyer who suffer a self-injury. Emily is based on a mixture of people, along with a good helping of imagination. In some ways she is a little like me - I was clever at school, but never quite sure if i was ''doing my best''. I also experienced the same kind of bullying as Emily from my ''friends'', who one day stopped talking to me, but it didn''t go on for as long as Emily''s suffering. But in the end, every self-injurer that I had experienced in myself and other peoples had a different reason for doing it. The only thing they all had in common was that none of them could deal productively with their feelings. And that''s very worrying, because if you don''t learn how to deal with your emotions and stress when you''re young, it''s doubly hard to learn how to do it as an adult. Self-injuring doesn''t make you a less worthy person, so my advise to you is that, you''re not alone. You''re not crazy or sick, but you do need help because what you''re doing isn''t good for you. Talk to someone that you close to, such as your bestfriends, family or maybe seek with counsellor, but I understand that can be difficult because often people don''t know how to help you. But above all, don''t blame yourself. Self-injuring doesn''t make you a less worthy person.
