As Intermitencias Da Morte
(José Saramago)

Publicidade
The intermittencies of death. - Tired of being hated by all people, the death decides to suspend its activities. In an imaginary country the people stops to die. The agitation and joy provoked by such decision are immense. But very quickly the chaos is installed and this attitude of the Death is changedded into a most serious problem. Aged and the sick ones agonize perpetual in its stream beds, the funerary agencies can not  work no more and the geriatrical hospitals and asylums are full untill the top with a supercapacity that does not stop to increase. What it seemed to be an excellent notice time becames after all in a drama with more preoccupying results: on one hand we have a population groing older and on the other hand a government that it does not know how to resolve the problem of the Social Security. But another problem goes to appear when the people not knows what to do with an immortal existence. The situation is so chaotic that even the Christian faith is in danger, therefore if perpetual life does not have death also does not have resurrection nor after the death. One more time Jose Saramago surprises  for the unexpected subjects that he approaches  to us and how he do it.
