Messiah''s   Handbook  --  Reminders for the Advanced Soul   By Richard Bach   Abstract By: Rex S.      The results of this book are that the first literary form after mankind?s earlier first ever writing of things down with symbols and letters for bartering and for early spiritual symbols. The literary form first introduced is that of Aphorism(s). Webster''s Dictionary defines Aphorism: noun: a short saying stating a general truth. It is statement that rings true but does not have to be a complete sentence. Aphorism(s) are about the symbols of words and phrases. It was the first time writing was not just about either bartering terms and conditions or spiritualistic hieroglyphics. Richard Bach started do this a little literary technique in his book Jonathon Livingston Seagull but brought it back even more by mixing its'' the elements into his slightly later book Illusions, The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah. Instead a theory ridden Seagull we have, in Illusions, we have in the latter  book a guru who knows his own mind where his facts are right to himself but maybe not to anyone else. Most Stand-Alone Aphorisms are more popular by themselves than any one of the creative ones of Mr. Bach''s uses are. However, the collection of all Mr. Bach''s writing can inspire us where statements are maxims and just not theory. It''s a little like the method that George Lucas had master Jedi''s, Yoda, speak in the screen play with a backwardly sentence structure but with pithy mixed words and phrases. Remember how Yoda talked in Star War pictures. Aphorism waxes and wanes a little like poetry does. So, for an author who did not delve into the actual act of writing poetry in any of His published works, aphoristic writing for Him is His poetry. Mr. Bach''s most recent book consists of a short Forward that shows how Author leaps forward thirty years from his poetic days. Then the body of the small pocket-sized hardback book is all made up of aphorisms. Here''s an example of another that yours truly grew up with but it is separate from Mr. Bach''s: Still water Runs Deep. That''s it. Short, isn''t it? On its surface the saying seems to apply to only a couple of water symbols -- Still and Deep.<...> but on the secondary meaning it seems to apply to the behavior of some people. An aphorism is a figure of speech. Aphorism is an idiom if it can stand alone like poem does. Here is one of Mr. Bach''s recent ones -- Forgetting is what people on this planet call (consciousness.) I think that the secondary meaning is referring to all the various forms of meditation used today. You know of what I speak, don''t you? The first step in such forgetting meditations is to take a few deep breaths and then, think of some pastel setting to sort rest your mind before you more, or less go to sleep with your eyes open. At the first reading of one of the many aphorisms in the book Mr. Bach''s aphorism appears contradictory to itself. In other words you can''t have Forgetting defined by Consciousness, can you? Unless, that is that you put consciousness into the context of all people meditating and there are many who do so. This is when I realized that all the meditation disciplines start with and by forgetting. This kind forgetting is nearly related to the act of sleeping. Are you a benefit to mankind if you spend too time sleeping or meditating? this is an important book, an Author''s Poetry that serves as a mirror on the rest of His portfolio. - Rex Sefton for The Parvusvox Journal   [email protected]
