Social Prosesses

Beggary in RussiaOne of the most global problems of a modern Russian society is beggary. The residents of every region, more over, every block of any town can complain on a long or short stay near their living place of a beggar or groups of beggars. Where do these beggars come from and how do they accept such a lifestyle? What are these beggars ? accidental victims of the modern society or probably they only pretend to be victims and deceive ordinary citizens taking money from them in their own way?Today in Russia among beggars we can meet former teachers, artists, pensioners, workers. The reasons why a man becomes a beggar are usually the following: fires, an incurable disease, mental or physical defection, old age, lack of financial resources to maintain life, unemployment, laziness, bad circumstances happened in life, no home. The main causes of losing a place to live are: previous convictions when a man can lose his registration, a fraud when a man buys or sells his flat or house, a fraud connected with the house sell from the side of relatives, moving to another town without a status of a refugee, the sell of a house and no possibility to buy another one because of the inflation. It is necessary to remember that no all those who ask for money can be real beggars. Some people only pretend to be beggars and play a role and in fact are capable to work. Beggars do not accomplish or do any work at all as distinct from poor people. There are different kinds of activity which beggars can lead. One of them ask for a handout in the churches and cemeteries; others have their own ?place? in the town; some beggars go by electric trains where they ask for money complaining about difficult material situation or that they missed their train and stayed in this unknown town and need money to return home; other beggars sit on the cold ground or under the hot sun and they only pretend to be cripples, or such a beggar can be a woman with a baby in her hands, often ill. The special status have those beggars who ask for money with their whole families, having something like a contract (not written) with local town bandits. These bandits provide beggars with a special ?place? in a public area. Such beggars are often can be seen with children on the laps. These children are usually taken from gypsies or parents-alcoholics. Such children often become slaves and are not returned to their true parents. Beggars appreciate mostly disabled children and so they can earn more money. It is important for a beggar to have the right pose and to look in a way to provoke pity from the side of the passers-by. Generally people give money to disabled and teenagers-musicians. Few people give money to tramps. By the way quite a lot of people sacrifice money for the reconstruction of churches and such gifts are taken in the streets by women in long black clothes. Such beggars as tramps can spend nights at the railway stations, old houses? garrets, basements, slums, airports. A certain part of tramps live at a town dump where they can find food and clothes. There are a lot of disabled people among tramps but it is impossible for them to form their position as people who are not capable to form and get pension or financial aid. They cannot be taken to a job because they do not have registration and a place to live, and no place ? no job ? it is the Russian law. Thanks to certain television programs many Russian citizens know that such beggars have a host ? a man who makes them make money and earns with the help of such a labor taking the great part of the money for himself. The beggars have their own culture which comprises a special slang, a certain number of traditions, songs, the art of disguise (make-up, clothes, humps, so on). Beggary generally is a profitable business, and quite often the citizens can not even suspect that an ordinary beggar can have his own house, a car, good money in a bank. Beggars do not have united families, they have early sexual contacts, if they have children then do not foster them, that is why such children are in the same low social position or become slaves. Beggary is connected with disorderly conduct, theft, prostitution. And beggars? children often become beggars or criminals without work.
