The movie industry nowadays seems to farther itself from human stories with an emotional focus that touch the spectator. Children of Men, by Alfonso Cuaron, is on the other hand, a movie one cannot easily forget, nor brush away, it leaves a permanent trace on thespectator, a meditation thread to think about Humanity. This movie is simply the tale of humanity, thirty years from now, a polluted future, terrorism, illegal immigration, sterile women. There will be a time when love, relations and sexual relations would have to be explained as such: platonic love will be the expression of a lack of desire, to be a couple will be a response to a lack of fulfilment, the opposition between the two kinds of love will act as morality. Anyone letting oneself go to the delights of a material body, of a body able to carry life, to experience desire and pleasure, will bet his/her life and his/her soul or eternity. The only way to get a pass to eternal lifeis love in concept, the absolute and purified love for other. The passion for ideal sanctifies the desire. Anything too close to bodies, skins, senses, sensuality will end up damned, punished, chastised. This movie is ultimately intellectual and contemplates God''s beauty through the idea of hope and the bodily union as a tool of procreation. This movie can change minds, it is an artistic alarm bell for us to wake up to and live normal lives. Our earth needs this so much!
