Rchard is capture by a Mord-Sith, Denna.AMord-Sith is a womanin red leather who cancontrol those who use the Gift,used by Darken Rahl to torture answers outof people by using an Aeigl(a thin red rod that inflicts terrible pain when touched). Richard escapes his torture, andkills Denna, but forgives her for torturing him, and wears her Aeigl around her neck in her memory. Richard kills Darken Rahl and discover that he is not George Cyphers son but Darken Rahls, because Rahl had raped Richard's mother and she had conceived him (She died in fire caused by an man anrgy at George because he thought that he had cheated him, that is why Richard controls his anger). Richard is made the new Lord Rahl because he is the only gifted heir, and his has both Subtractive and Additive magic. Hishalf-brother Michal Cypher, the one who gave him to the Mord-sith, is excuted by an order on Richard.
