As it is possible to call Homer a father of literature, so it is considered that Herodotus is a father of history. He is a first person,who in nine books has presented history of conflict between Europe actually Greece with Asia or properly Persia, for us relation of historic events. In times when Herodotus was creating his work, Persia actually was called Asia, as nobody new its genuine size (Asia). Author in a pictorial manner describe creations of Persian state, effecting of its kings, concentrating particularly on great expedition of Kserkses, having on purpose subordination and subduing of Hellad, according to Herodotus and Hellens support of civilized world. This chronicle, because we can name it that way, dos not guarded itself of big doze of subjectivism of author, but firstly Herodotus was a Greek and surely it was hard for him to introduce his compatriot in adverse light, secondly in many later chronicles its authors dos not avoided this ( maybe just because theirs father has given them such example). It manifests even if in enumeration of number of Persian army, marching to Greece in command of Kserkses. Herodotus informs us, that along with service and supported troops, there was lots above three millions of people, what seems to be very exaggerated amount (most historians concern to it skeptically), what have on purpose gloryfication of jointed Hellad?s (not all though) victory.But author does not concentrate on political history only, it is possible to find many geographic descriptions in this work, concerning places, which author has personally visited. Among others, Egypt, Persia, Black See region and other. There are presented customs of local populations and events, which author was informed about staying in a country, and which for us, people of XXI century, seems to be unbelievable or plainly funny. But author in his acquaintance of contemporary world not all gives faith also. I motivate reading of this first historic chronicle, which surely one can learn from, beyond concrete story presented by author, how people that epoch perceived theirs world.
