The Foreigner
(albert camus)
In L `Algérie of the Thirties, it would have been desirable that the behavior of Meursault, employee models in Algiers, that is to say in adequacy with that which the company awaits from each one of its members. At least but, why didn't it cry with the burial of his/her mother whom it had put in an old people's home, or shown visible signs of affliction? Why to have begun a connection the following day from this ground setting? Why attend and help an upholder, Raymond Sintès, who tabasse his concubine? Why not have said that it believed in a god and that he regretted to have killed a man? The answers of Meursault disguised it as monster and villain at the time of the lawsuit: if it had lied and says what the company had desire for hearing, it could have saved its head. But foreign in world, it did not play this game. Also, the indicters could not include/understand the accidental sequence of the facts during the murder of this Arab, the brother of the concubine, on this beach where it walked one Sunday: its revolt counters aggressive heat and the light stronger than its conscience which made it shoot at the enemy from Sintès, certainly threatening because it held a knife. But to be useful itself of the weapon of his/her friend on several occasions whereas it had been in its pocket for a few minutes only? Non, as regards justice, not of chance. In its cell of condemned to death, Meursault admits duty paying its debt and is afraid of the ultimate experiment. It revolts finally to push back a priest who insists that it still gives the impression to need god while being given up with the tradition of the repentance.
