The Banker Of The Poor
(Muhamad Yunus)

Publicidade
Muhamad Yunus (winner of the prize nobel) deum economist can be called I/you had been donormal. In Bangladesh, its homeland, he comes changing the concept of poor queos they cannot have credits for the fact of they present not any warranty. Rioted with otratamento that the banks of everybody render to those less favored ones, Yunus created the Banco Gramen, specialized in microcrédito for the poor. For many conservative economists, Gramen would not turn off the first birthday candle. For the surprise of these, and of many other - besides the World Bank - Gramen reached an awful success. It already lasts more than two decades and he/she has agencies spread at several countries. Even so, the objective continues the same, to favor those less favored ones. The Banco Gramen registers nothing less than a recovery index of the loans superior at 98% (YUNUS, 2000, p. 12). With thoughts humanists, and conscious of its responsibility to the society, Yunus has been showing that profit and social comprometimento cannot floor of given hands. The Banco Gramen is almost different in everything, if compared to the traditional commercial banks. Yours financed they are almost that in the totality women. It is difficult to believe that that is possible, mainly when we are speaking about a country where is predominant the Islamic religion. Though, Yunus believes that the poorest women, evidencing the Muslims, they suffer more than the men and, that, they seize with more will the opportunities. In the words of Yunus (2000, p. 155) " In Gramen we tried to not just generate economic changes, but also social changes. We want that the women, of citizens of second category, become responsible people, capable to solve its life and of its children ". The poor banker differs in a lot of the theoretical humanists, he makes the things they happen. He has the pleasure to say that he/she never gave money to the poor, instead of that, he/she gave the possibility of these they develop its creativity and potentiality. Gramen, according to Yunus, doesn't make charity to the poor.Bigger then is the the poor banker's conscience in the combat to the poverty, that besides the normal credit, he finances habitation, health, basic saneamento, because he/she knows that without the existence of those factors, it is difficult of its project of erradicação of the poverty to continue operating with success. For Yunus, in a future one relatively close, the poverty and the poverty will arrive to the end, and these, they can just be seen in museums.
