I thought it incumbent upon me to write down a few lines in praise of thejoining together of two cultures both in English and Turkish tocreate a play entitled: References. This play is in Five Acts. and follows dramatic tradition and presentationrules. It has a fine structure and it offers the actor a great dealof freedom inasmuch as the dialogue is there before your very eyes. You dont have to "make it up" but, if as an actor you choose to, thenthe last Act allows that space to do an improvised dialogue. For the student of drama it offers a way forward in performance andcan be seen to aid understanding in English and Drama. There is a deal of comedy about it ... and here I draw your attention tothe continuing flow of emails, and telephone conversations inrelation to the writing of this play.In fact, the THINK TANK man had a lot to offer in terms of structureand length and also content, and I as the mere writer was beholdingto me.. but in the nicest way possible. At one point, we both practically drew a line under our joint endeavoursand decided to go for the old sure footed system ... excellent stuff, great playlook forward to seeing it on the stage both here and internationally ... plus films and TV.It has received two Rave Reviews from Irish Television: RTE Dublin Ireland andBritish Television: Channel 4, London, England, so it comes wellendowed with excellence and clarity of expression ...Again I take another moment or two here to offer thanks to Dr. Melek forhis patience and congratulate him in his endeavours in Turkish and Englishas the man who Commissioned the Play: REFERENCES ... I am the author ...
