Because the story is a continuation, one can guess in advance what the outcome is. Logically the couple get one another. They live together and have three children within four years, which didn't fit into Desirée's plans. The manner of douible-naration is maintained, but the story loses its impetus. Allthough it was told in a nice and fluid fashion, the continuation ofit wasunecessary. Perhaps this lies in the fact that alot of day to day problems are mentioned, like lack of money told in funny way, which really isn't an easy matter at all.
