Acupuncture is mainly known for treating pain & suffering, but it is useful for a wide variety of ailments like angina, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, skin diseases, female disorders, neurological, pediatric & psychiatric disorders, AIDS etc. The points for Acupuncture or Acupressure are those spots in the body, where the so called energy "qi", gets stuck & hence these points are stimulated with needles or finger pressure. In one of the important Chapters, the author has answered some common questions about treatment. He has listed twelve techniques of Chinese medicine system, which may be applied alone or in combination, by an individual or a team of specialists. The diseases & disorders which can be treated, have been listed into four categories, viz. where these have effective treatment; where effects shown but further proof is needed; where only some effects shown but these are worth trying; & those where these may be tried if practitioner has adequate knowledge & equipments. When the patient comes to a practitioner he has to examine, if his condition will respond to the treatment, how many treatments will be needed, phases of the treatments & prospects of holding of the improvements etc. Under "Resources", details of some sources for getting books on Chinese medicine, for finding qualified practitioners & other relevant information & also Bibliography, for some sources on Oriental & also Western, Science, History, & Culture have been provided.
