Hi everyone I loved this book and this is why.This is just the first part I will get more into it later on.Fear forces Carried to surrender her innocence to a yankee captain to save her plantation.passion keeps him in her heart as her mind struggles to forget him.pride helps her fight to save her birthright and protect her sister as the civil war rages through New Orleans and the Mississippi Delta.He swept her up and carried her in to the bedroom and laid her down on the high walnut bed.A single lamp cast long shadows.Carrie watched with a certain disbelief as he went to the door and latched it,then came back to look down on her,his face grave and intent.  He pulled back the wrapper and fumbled with the ribbons at her bodice and still she did not move.But when the shirred material fell away to leave her breasts bared,she realized the enormity of what was happening.She mustn'e she count do this.No she said but her voice was soft and trembling and strange.He laughed deep in his chest.Saying dont pretend to be shy I've wanted to do this since the first moment i laid eyes on you and you've wanted it too.And all the time he was talking he was stripping her out of her gown and robe and she was thinking frantically.If she stopped him if she could stop him would he take out his anger on the ohters at kingston Landing.So she gave into him and did not say a word as he entered her.She did cry out in pain and his eyes got wide.He hurried to finish and looked at her suprised.Asking why she had teased him all day and why she did not tell him she was virgin.She told him that he would of took it out on everyone she loved and her home and she would not have that no matter what she had to give up she was going to keep her home and her loved ones safe,The next day they left to go to the city.About two months later Carrie and her little sister went to the city to try to get a loan to get the crops and stuff back up at the farm.It was there that they learned that the president was going to take slaves away from them and with that i will leave it to you to read the book to know more about it have fun and let me know what you think of the book when you are done reading it it is 400 pages long.Thanks everyone.
