Thanksgiving
(Janet Evanovich)
A brand new November 2006 published book from Janet Evanovich. Though it is short it is definitely another fine work. Comical in parts and romantic in others. This being a romance novel it is just that. A light reading type book, not for those that are looking to do alot of thinking while reading. Her main characters are always real and down to earth. The female lead, Megan and her male counterpart, Pat become more and more involved in one and others' lives. The story takes place in Williamsburg, Virginia just around Thanksgiving, thus the title. Megan not only lives but works right in the heart of colonial Williamsburg. Pat is a young doctor, just starting up his practice, and living in his Aunt's home while she is away. They meet via Pat's pet rabbit who has a case of the Houdini's and loves to escape his cage. In between the escapades of the rabbit and chance meetings between the two, a baby is dropped in Pat's lap to care for by his mother. The story unfolds in a short time span with each page being just as good as the one before. This is one of those books you really don't want to put down once you start to reading. You will find yourself chuckling in some places and in others down right laughing out loud. I happen to adore how Janet Evanovich can turn an ordinary person into someone you honestly could meet right out there in the world today. She makes her characters so real and honest. Almost as if you just might know someone just like the ones in her story. When she writes of different places they are real places that you can visit and find the realism in her words. Sometimes streets or restraunts names have been changed so as to not cause any problems but there are other times when they have not been altered and are exactly that name. I look forward to each and everyone of the books that this author writes.I savor them as I read because I know that all too quickly the pages will turn and I will be at the end of the story and she has not written another and I must await that piece of literature once again.
