The Death Of Wcw
(UNSURE)

Publicidade
WCW, most wrestling fans will remember it as the company that nearly ran Vince Mcmahon out of business. Most will remember it as a company that signed and had huge names in it. Most will remember it as the company that died and was purchased by Vince Mcmahon. So where did it go wrong for WCW? How did a company that dominated ratings for nearly two years from 1996 to 1998, ends up having no ratings or brodcast just two years later. While everyone has their own opinion, here are the reasons i believe killed WCW.
1) Not letting Go of the NWO Storyline The very thing that helped WCW win the ratings for 83 weeks was one of the reasons. The reason was WCW simply would not put the NWO storyline to rest. It became repetitive even confusing and boring, sometimes one wondered where it was going. Just when it seemed like the NWO was put away, they were brought back and it just didn't work.
2) The Fingerpoke of Death Ok it was unexpected, it was shocking but this done more damage to WCW than good. Kevin Nash just lying down for Hogan for the WCW title devalued the most cheerished price in WCW. It was just hard to imagine how one of the biggest golds held by the likes of Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Sting would just be handed over like that.
  3) Politics Oh backstage Politics existed that is for sure. WCW signed on some big talent but the problem also was with these big names came big egos and politics. Too many of the guys wanted things their way and they ended up getting it because of their names, there had to be someone who said NO! but no-one did and the politicians ran things down from there
. 4) Not Pushing younger talent Its a known fact that WCW never pushed their younger talent and made stars out of them. Whereas WWF as it was called back then took younger talent, pushed them and made bigger main event stars out of them (Austin, The Rock, Mankind, Triple H). WCW never bothered much about it, they had so much young talent but they never made use of it.
  5) Guranted Contracts I believe this was another factor and here is why. From what i heard WWF were not offering any guaranted contracts to wrestlers. In other words they wanted the wrestlers to bust thier ass if they wanteda pay. WCW's guranted contract while lured many wrestlers, it also made many lazy and not willing to pull thier weight around since they knew theywere going to get paid no matter what. So when you got lazy workers not giving good matches, you get fans bored and hating what they see, so they change the channel or go elsewhere, which in turn creates lesser ratings and attendance.
6)
Bad Booking and Creative writing WCW simply could not come up with many things that would keep the fans interested. Anything that did have potential was handled badly (New Blood Vs Millionaire's angle). Add to the fact that WCW just would not put the NWO to rest, after the original NWO came NWO Wolfpac, NWO REUNION, NWO 2000. Now bringing it once is fine but time and again and it just bores the audience.
7) VINCE RUSSO I don't blame Russo completly but some of his storylines just didn't make sense, were sub-par at times and didn't create much. Without some guidance and someone to check it out his storylines didn't work. I also get the feeling he was surrounded by YES Man who never tried to challange or help him out. Add to that backstage Politics and you can see why it never worked for him. Despite that even when Russo did get a storyline going it just wasn't good enough for fans, WCW Staff and critics.
