This book covers the business of the Levites, the Israelitic tribe chosen as priests, and includes religious, social and hygienic law. It BEGINS with God's directions about procedures for the various types of sacrifices, and goes on to the ordination of Aaron and his sons as the first priests of the new nation---the death of Aaron's sons Nadab & Abihu for having offered unauthorized fire---clean & unclean animals for food---Skin diseases and other hygienic considerations---other governing laws and procedures, amongst which is a reprimand to Israel for sacrificing to goat idols---the keeping of the Sabbath and the various feasts and festivals appointed throughout the year---the Jubilee---it ENDS with : "...These are the commands the Lord gave Moses on Mt. Sinai for the Israelites."
