First things first, I must say if, like me, you bought thisbook because it was written by Meg Cabot you will be disappointed, having saidthat however I don't think this is not a good read, it's simply not written inMeg Cabot?s usual style. also it does give the impression that there should bea prelude to the story as it seems to jump into the middle of someone?s lifestory with a lot of background that we are supposed to know about but isn?tmentioned until a couple of chapters into the book. Don't despair though for asbleak as it must by now sound, it is actually a fun and intriguing book. ThePlot is stable and can be followed easily, without having the outcome guessedat. As a whodunit the book isn?t brilliant as there are no clues to guide youapart from the main characters intuitions, and as a Romantic Comedy its thescrapings of the barrel as not only does the heroine sleeps with an exboyfriend, but her love interest (which by the way is her ex-fiancé?s brother) doesn?tshow any signs of liking her as anything more than a friend. There are no deepand meaningful moments or rather any significant moments, this is not the ideaof any romantic book in my eyes, however maybe there will be a continuation ofthe story as the ending is left open, and in the follow up she might get herman. Despite what I have said so far though, I still found the book a 'pageturner' despite the lack of clues and the hopelessness of the main characterslove life, the book still managed to captivate me, which shows that while itmight not have those little details that make a great book, as a whole MegCabot has had yet another success in writing this book. I would gladlyrecommend to many of my friends although I wish it was not written by Meg Cabotas she is a brilliant writer and this book isn?t quite as good as her other accomplishments. To anyone who buys the book, I advise you to ignore anything you know about MegCabot?s usual style because while as I have said many times in this review thatthe book is not brilliant, this is only because I am used to Meg Cabotproducing books where you fall into the story, become part of the action, andwish that you were the heroine, I think had this been written by any otherauthor (except perhaps Chris Manby as his work too is astounding) I would haveenjoyed for itself. In conclusion I would recommend this book to teenagers whoare not widely read on Meg Cabot?s other works, although many others will tooenjoy this book. In my personal opinion I would rate it 7/10. EnjoyNo offense was meant in the writing of this review as I mentioned several times I consider Meg Cabot to be a talented writer and this review merely expressesthe fact that as a fan of hers that i was slightly disapointed.
