The Sinner

Two nuns are found slain in the chapel of a monetary in Boston. The younger of the nuns is dead, the other lies in coma in intensive care of the hospital. Official medicolegal expert Dr. Maura Isles and detective Jane Rizzoli of the Boston Police Department search after the murderer. They follow traces as far as India, where one year ago something incredible happened. At the autopsy of the younger of the both nuns, who were slained, it appears that she had been given birth to a child shortly before her death. They find the dead body of the child in a lake on the area of the monetary. The two women are so much involved into this case that even their private lives are affected. Jane Rizzoli realises that she is pregnant and struggles with the decision to keep the child or not. Maura Isles? exhusband appears after 3 years all of a sudden and thrusts himself into her life. Victor is also a medical doctor living an unsteady life working for the aid organsation One Earth, which is, as will turn out, involved with the incidence in India and the killings. In the end he will therefore get into suspicion of murder and the just again revived relationship between Maura and Victor is put to a hard challenge. Initially Jane Rizzoli keeps quiet about her pregnancy against the father of the child. But as he as an FBI agent gets also involved into the case as more killings happen that obviously are associated with the first crime, she doubts her decision for an abortion. In an abandoned pub a woman?s dead body is found with hands, feet and face segregated. For what reason? The trace leads to a big corporation that was involved in the incident in India. An employee of the corporation was found killed by the same weapon in the trunk of a car. In the end the terrible truth about the incident in India comes into light and the murderer is caught. Jane Rizzoli decides to keep her child and marries the FBI agent at the end.
