The Art Of Travelling
(Botton, Alain)
Every head is a world,it says with knowledge the old saying. Each of us possesses his own well-known, wished, been afraid and mysterious places. The one every who is,more of the times, travelling round his own footpaths. The destination, the step and the way of conciliating both, turns out to be infinitely varied;and the fact is that, like the one every who is a world, only the one alive who in his knows his own fascinations and the way in which it lives through them.We are constant travelers, without importing the covered distance or the adornments that offer to him the stateliness to our sceneries.Generally the trip begins,at least metaphorically, with a step, although the size of the same one is defined only by the walking one who gives it.Sometimes the deepest and long steps turn out to be those directed towards the interior, ours.It even might be said that the action previous to the first step is the idea of the trip itself. Before capturing the trip in actions, since it happens with many things, we usually live through it firstly in our mind;and there, in this world that is only ours and that we can share or not with whom let's want, we experience also sensations that we hope to find in our passage.Since it is, generally we travel to places that we do not know, or to those relatives in whom we have found refuge or well-being.The times do not import that we visit some or others, and we usually bring souvenirs with us that remind to us the lived in those gaits.Nevertheless, in any trip we need something or to someone who guides us.It is so for this end we find to Alain de Botton and his crew, those who in this book lead us, by means of a fresh and sincere language, for the footpaths of the different types of trips, intentions and experiences that we can tackle and obtain of the same ones, us be already displacing or penetrating into our own footpaths.I run to hand with Botton, we will meet several handlebars depending on the target and the destination that we have in mind. They will be our crooks across islands, forests, deserts, cities, highways, ideas and visions. We will cover South America to the rhythm of Von Humbolt; Egypt led by Flaubert; even places much more nearby and sometimes despised or forgotten together with Huysmans, between other many places. But perhaps the big quantity and quality of the crew that waits for us obeys that beyond all these wonderful places, will be silent partners of our secret events. We will be able to wonder and re to appear our way of travelling and the way in which every trip influences us. We will think that the spirit of adventure can be in the local contemplation that, for his routine character they go so far as to lose his delight. There will be those who remind to us that what at what our eyes look can exceed them, allowing us then to feel what we have attended. In end, Alain de Botton and his crew will offer to us some pencils, paintings, photos, linens, maps, ideas, memories and roles that us will be useful to complement or to restate our art of travelling.
