Change is the law of nature, & therefore changes will take place. Some changes are due to natural causes, but some are thrust upon by the top managements, may even be due to factors beyond their control. It is human nature to resist any type of change. But when it is seen that, Change has been decided in the overall interest of the organization, it should become every body's business, to accept the change & wholeheartedly help to implement it in letter & spirit. Generally it has been observed that, efforts towards changes lead to fear, resistance, blame & disagreement. By our wisdom & power, we can help in creating a better workplace & home place. We may be in any low or high position, at work or at home & of any age, we should be an active person for effecting the required changes. In three parts(& several sub sections) of the book, the author gives the details, based on his experience, of the beliefs, character traits & actions, which will be useful for examining & accepting the changes proposed. We as human beings, have the power to support, stop or change the direction of the change. The author gives several examples, anecdotes & questionnaires to explain the matters. Every employee should be conscious of playing his positive role in effecting the changes, for overall betterment. It also tells us as to "how-to" make the changes. While making the proposed changes, the needs & doubts of the concerned employees, must always be taken care of. Help of every employee is of utmost importance. We all have to visualize change as some thing good for the future, & not as a villain. Resistance to change must be avoided, leadership must be committed to change, & we should make responsible uses of our power for making the changes required.
Truly, change is everybody,s business. The courageous voice of one person anywhere may trigger a change for the better. Often in our lives there are occasions, when we have to give our opinion, reaction or stand, which necessarily requires our thought process. Not reacting to any proposal is the easiest, & the habitual thing. Resistance to changes in initial stages may be alright, but where necessary we should be instrumental in effecting quick changes. As initiators of changes, we should have the courage & be active participants, with knowledge about actions & techniques & the ideas given in this book. Details of assessing & reviewing, have been given for developing vision for the future. In this brief guide book for dealing with changes, the practical ideas & tips have been given in a simple language. Whatever be our position, we have to play our role in making the changes, or assisting in getting the changes made. Making changes in family life, work life or in other areas of our life, is our business & not other's. On many occasions, this abstract writer during his service career, had faced the process of effecting changes, the resistances observed, plans made, obstacles & reservations of various persons. But ultimately with every one concerned, briefed & explained properly & winning every one over to the proposed changes, these could be effected easily & in time, with the expected results, & the satisfaction of all concerned.
