Alancewicz Maciej, Hip ?hop subculture as a trial of emancipation and resistance of youths against prevailing moderls of social order based on examples on hip-hop texts, Olsztyn 2006Summarizing my master thesis , I?d like to emphasise that hip-hop,as a subculture, has a worldwide range and that it showed up in Poland in the middle 90s. Hip-hop, because of it?s sociological features, is a youth subculture which is quite peculiar. It has got such determinants as characteristic wear, creativity and specific code of behaviour.According to the emancipation and resistance theory in a hip-hop subculture, we can easily see lots of features that are typical for youth subculture. Young people who identify with hip-hop environment (MC-ing, B-dance, DJ-ing) have their own code of behaviour. Resistance and emancipation exist because of youths objection against reality that surraunds them.According to subcultures? typology and their origin, hip-hop subculture derives from some youths subsultures from the past. Inspite of many similarities, we can distinguish many innovations as well, as a result of a creative character of this subculture. Many things connected with polish hip-hop are taken directly from american patterns.Research of hip-hop subculture in Poland indicates the lack of originality in it?s creative activity. Only political aspects are quite characteristic for polish hip-hop. That is probably a result of specific social and political situation in Poland.To sum up the part of the master thesis concerning resistance and emancipation in a hip-hop subculture, I?d like to emphasise once more the specific and strong ideology that makes hip-hop so characteristic as well as code of behaviour and peculiar relation to reality.Many hip-hop artists in their songs raise such subjects as police, drugs, alkohol, family and social or political situation that surraund us. The important thing is that when it comes to drugs or alkohol addictions, hip-hop moral code generally condamn such activities. But at the same time, we can see acceptance for so called ?soft drugs? such as marihuana. That is why, especially the older generation of society, very often perceive hip-hop subculture as a subculture of drugs addicts.The aim of my master thesis was to show the differences between different kinds of drugs and the results of taking them.Relation to drugs(as well as relation to police or politics) is an element of resistance and emancipation because it is easily seen that it differs a lot from a general point of view.The last part of my master thesis contains hip-hop artists? points of view. They also confirm the hypothesis that I have put forward in my master thesis.In conclusion, I would like to add that hip-hop subculture and it?s music are real. Hip-hop ?products? reflects real points of view and real life of their creators and receivers. That is why it is one of the most precious pictures of youths? reality, that diserves further research.
