To Wed A Scandalous Spy
(Celeste Bradley)

Publicidade
An undercover agent for the crown falls for a mischievous maiden in regency era London. Willa Trent, daughter of an idealistic couple, inherited the worst of both worlds after her parents died. Although her mother had been an illegitimate princess, her father had not possessed a title, land or fortune. She was not quite good enough for the aristocracy and yet she was too highborn to mingle with the humble folk. Then there was the curse. Any man whoattemptedto court young Miss Trentinevitably left bruised and bandaged. Willa was well on her way to spinsterhood unless she could find aman brave enough to risk life and limb long enough to propose. Nathaniel Stonewell, Earl of Reardon, was a member of an elite cadre known as the Royal Four (Cobra, Falcon, Fox and Lion - Lord Reardon is the Cobra). During his last mission, he had infiltrated a seditious organization known as the Order of Fleur in an attempt to ferret out some highly placed traitors. He had succeeded in exposing all but the most dangerous of the lot, a man known only as the Chimera. He managed to destroy the group from the inside; unfortunately, only the prince regent (and the other 3 members of the Royal Four) knew why he had joined a group determined to overthrow the government. Lord Reardon was branded ?Lord Treason? and ostracized from the society he was sworn to protect. Turning the situation to his advantage, The Cobra pursues the only member of the Order still at large, the Chimera. Affecting the attitude of a spoiled young lord, Nathaniel tracks the villain to a remote village. He had almost caught up with the traitor when he fell off his horse and blacked out. Willa could not leave the unconscious gentleman lying in the road, especially since she was largely responsible for his current condition. She took him home and since (technically) they had spent the night together, Willa married the mysterious lord who had fallen at her feet. Nathaniel did not remember the young lady, but he knew his duty. He could not leave an innocent girl to face social ruin (even for king and country). So he married her and introduced himself as Lord Treason. Willa listened patiently to the mysterious handsome gentleman who was going to save her from spinsterhood and thought the matter through. Any man who was so concerned with honor that he would wed a little nobody to save her from disgrace could never betray his country. So she decided to help her new husband regain his rightful place in society. Willa is going to stand by her man, for better or worse. All she needs is a little help from her Uncle George, better known as the Prince Regent.
