Sara is 14 years old. Since her parents' divorce, she lives at her father's, in the country side. Her mother, she has an appartment in the center of the same village. Her sister Melany chose to live at her mother's until the day she decides to move in with two room mates, Myra and Elaine.Sara goes to see her mother every monday evening, more from habit than pleasure. She sometimes walk across Mel, their conversation is often bound to 'hey'. As for Mel, she hasn't visit her father in years. But one day, Mel disapears, fades away.This sudden and unexpected disappearing will draw the two parts to communicate, to join together, to investigate, to look for explanations and elaborate plans to find a reason to this disappearing. Has anybody seen anything suspicious?Different assumptions, Different scenarios all lead to one reality: Mel is lost. Thanks to this disappearing, Sara realises how her sister and her were never close. She even hates her. As months pass, Sara keeps on trying to understand what might have happened, yet she notices her parents' attention comes back to her.This novel retranscribes the unbearable waiting of a parent's loss to wonder, without explaination and moreover without mourning. The inexorable waiting punctuated with hope and despondency. It puts up a touching picture of a teenager who suffered from a too perfect of a sister.By the time the story evolves, she writes letters to the missing and establishes a relationship which wouldn't have existed without her disappearing. It is an easy and improving reading, about humans feelings' contradiction and pain from an immaterial loss.
