The Da Vinci Dode
(Dan Brown)

Publicidade
The author, Dan Brown, attributes the great work into the literature, which is easy to read and understand. The novel begins with one of the Da Vinci?s famous works-----?the last dinner?, ends with the explanation of the ?secret? finally. The ?secret? in the painting is the disciple who sits by the right side of the Jesus. She is said to be the hint of ?The Real Mary Magdalene?. And the course of founding out the ?secret? step by step is so wonderful that can interest you keep on. As its most significance, the well-knit plot and the explicit line of thought thoroughly thread through the book. Although it is divided into many chapters, each of them is written in a pithy style. The layout of such literature fulfills the post-modern readers? tastes. The master of narrative pace is another feature of the book. At the different highlights of the story, the author adopts different narrative pace. For example, when the story goes to a climax, the author would accelerate the pace and shorten the text and dialogue. When some texts need the detailed describe, the author would elaborate it with abundant data in a wide margin. Such written skill and the fascinating plot can completely draw the readers? attention and impulse their brains. One of the figures which makes me think most is the assistant of the bishop, named Silas. Once he presents, there must be something bad happens. In order to protect the ?truth? in his mind, he murders so many innocent people. He faithfully believes that all the truths he holds are the absolutely solely truths. And he tries his best to protect the traditions as much as he can. As a extremist, he is doomed to have a sever and fatal consequence. Although he is a bad guy in the novel, he is so devout to his belief that he can lash his own body even sunk the iron chain into his thighs. The grate pain could barely change his loyalty at all. And it?s a pity that so many modern people even don?t have any believes at all. To some degree, maybe we can gain enlightenment from that.On the contrary, the profound and smart old man Lei, are always faithful to the history, and all the purposes of what he did are to face the truth. In my opinion, his words are deserved admiration. But his evils are the cheats, utilizations and killing. We can judge that what he did is relayed on his belief but not the personal interests. And his belief is not the religion but the mission of exposing the truth, which is common and correspond to the value. But it is wrong for him to purchase it by such way. Although there are so many disputes about the novel, they can hardly affect the brilliance of the story. And it is without any doubt that people can not live without belief, no matter which is the god or truth.
