Emotional Intelligence or Emotional Quotient is increasingly being recognised as a key determinanat to professional success in today's high stress environment. This book is an essential guide to recognise, understand and mange emotions. The author describes emotional intellicgence as consisting of three psychological dimensions - emotional sensitivity, emotional maturity and emotional competency which motivate individuals to maximise productivity, manage change and resolve conflicts. There are three potential sources of stress namely environmentals, organisational and individual. But the actual stress caused depends on individual differences related to Job experiences and personality. When you exprerience stress, it may be manifested as psychological, physiological or sometimes behavioural. A group which normally faces frequent work-related dangers are Law enforcement officers & Executives. Job stress among these officers sometimes leads to alcohol abuse, disruption of norma sleeping and eatting orders, poor nutrition, anger and fear. It has been noticed that stress is mostly occurs due to matters like marital discord and difficulties.

Stress disorders are a category of illnesses marked by persistent, irrational and excessive worry that interferes with everyday functioning, a major area of which is work. While looming deadlines, increased workloads, high pressure presentations and other job demands leave almost all workers suffering from some physical and mental symptoms of anxiety at times.people with anxiety disorders experience anxiety that is unrelenting, making it difficult and sometimes impossible to carry out everyday tasks and responsibilities.

A major source of stress is overdriving yourself. If you are working (or partying) 16 hours a day, you will have reducedyour available time for rest. Sooner or later, the energy drain on your system will cause the body to fall behind in its repair work. There will not be enough time or energy for the body to fix broken cells, or replace used up brain neurotransmitters. CHANGES will occur in your body's internal environment. If you continue, permanent damage may be done. The body's fight to stay healthy in the face of the increased energy that your are expending is major stress.
