Pippi In The South Seas
(Astrid Lindgren)

Publicidade
Forget the helpless heroines, Pippi has spunk. She doesn?t let anyone push her around, especially boring and clueless adults. In Pippi in the South Seas, the third of four books written by Astrid Lindgren, Pippi is at the top of her game. She starts out by frustrating a very rude gentleman who thinks he wants to buy Pippi?s house, Villa Villekulla. Of course the villa isn?t for sale, and with her wit, Pippi chases the rude stranger away.In each chapter, Pippi experiences new adventures that are led by her imagination. Innocent and creative, Pippi barges into her aunt?s tea party, and astounds the ladies with her sass. She also exasperates Miss Rosenblom, the woman who comes to school each year and terrifies the school children with her hard questions. But all the children envy Pippi because her life is so fun.Annika and Tommy, Pippi?s best friends are always eager to leave their boring lives to follow along. Then Pippi?s father, captain of the Hoptoad, and king of the island, Kurrekurredutt, writes his plan of bringing Pippi to the island. Annika and Tommy are heartbroken ? that is until Pippi convinces their parents to let them to go with her. They all have great fun sailing on the ship, Hoptoad; the adults onboard all know Pippi and adore her. When they get to the island, she is welcomed like the princess that she is. The island and the people on it are new to her, but for Pippi, every day of her life is an adventure. What youngster wouldn?t want to be Pippi Longstocking? She owns her own house, where she lives quite comfortably without the help of any adult. She owns a horse and a playful monkey named, Mr. Nilsson. She makes her own rules, sleeps with her feet on her pillow instead of her head. This redhead is clever and witty and never has to go to school if she doesn?t want to. Pippi is a force of nature that adults in her life have a hard time dealing with and it?s a shame her adventures had to end.
