The Color Of The Magic
(Terry Pratchett)

Publicidade
Several are the authors who obtain to not only create histories, but entire universes in such a way or until more interesting of the one than that one in which we live. It adds to already known C.S. Lewis (the Chronicles of Nárnia), J.R.R. Tolkien (Mr. of Rings) and J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), the British Terry Pratchett, author of the Discworld series, composed currently of nothing more nothing less than thirty and five (uau) published volumes, and with others - it does not ask how many - still for coming. In Brazil, the Conrad Publishing company already published the eleven first volumes. The fans of the series are thankful and twist so that the publication gradual continues advancing until reaching, who knows, simultaneous launchings. But so that this occurs, he will be necessary first that the Brazilian public if interest a little more for the workmanship and the author. The genius touch who differentiates Pratchett of the excessively creative ones of parallel universes is that it uses and abuses personages, creatures, places and myths that all we know since small, but with a peculiar pitadas well humorado and loaded point of view of of black mood. In the Color of the Magic, some references are found inverted explicita and propositadamente the personages and histories of other writers, as much that nor me atrevo to list them, but with certainty you will be with that sensation of that some thing of that you are reading is kept back in the deep one of the trunk of its memory. The proper geography of the record already would give voluminous Atlases, with the region of the edge, the Cercaferência, and its many islands, sufficiently next to the abyss where it drains the Discworld, and the central region, where deuses inhabits in the top of the most raised mountains. It imagines a world, a record, supported in top of four giant elephants plain, that in turn are on a giant turtle still and that nothing calm in the imensidão of the cosmos. Maluquice? It is, can until seeming. But you wise person who was of this skill that many men believed that the Land was until little time behind? Pratchett was used to advantage of myths and existing legends already and that according to it "they were twirling for there and did not seem to have owner" to create its histories and thus to criticize of amused form some of the modern customs. As much is that nothing it seems to escape to its acid mood, since tourist, economy, insurance company, until the technology, among others. Mago imagines one that it only learned a witchcraft, but that never it used it, therefore beyond not knowing what the witchcraft makes, has fear of the consequences. Or a traveller who always puts itself in problems, being followed of close for its luggage that he possesss about one hundred perninhas. Or mythical heroes who so make look like to be destemidos how much donkeys. Or "the" Death, impagável personage who exactly appears dress the character with its great scythe in hours (im)próprias, making sarcastic commentaries to discourage any attempts of survival. Deuses imagines that they bet with the destinations of the mortal personages as in a tray game. Or a upside-down mountain, inhabited for invisible dragons and a people who walks in the ceiling. Or a falante sword that never does not silence the mouth. Or it thinks that the concern of the magos and studious greaters of Discworld is in knowing the sex of the giant turtle that supports the record. It has magical schools for magos, numbers, magical wood, magical places and until a magical color, the octarina. E more still has: unscrupulous, magos unions of criminals, governing, monsters, dragons, trolls, superstitions, villain-heroes, villain-villains, ghosts, duels, princesses, castles, caves, at last, an entire universe to its wait, capable to entertain, to amuse and to satisfy to the most demanding fantastic readers of fábulas. Although not to identify to me very with the sense of British mood, I recommend the bookfor presenting a type of mood universal, but not only also atemporal.
