Publicidade
Amir, who now lives in America is haunted by the cruelty and disloyality he had shown to his servant's son Hasan during his childhood. He gets an opportunity to cleanse his sins, through Rahim Khan, his father's close friend, but for that he has to step his foot on his motherland Afghanistan, whose society and infrastructure is being brutally disfigured by the Taliban. As the story unveils through Amir's eyes, the reader comes to taste the bitter truth of the treacherous life in Afghanistan during the 90's .Through Amir's narration, the reader sees the Afghanistan where the white clouds of peace turn black and rain violence in a matter of few years. Though Amir's attitude to redeem does invoke sympathy and appreciation, the reader would find it very difficult not to spare a tear for the loyal Hasan. The intuitive story-telling and the ironic humour keeps the reader interested throughout the book.Kite Runner : A Kite worth running for.
