Caligula
(Alan Massie)

Publicidade
This book is not another boring biography of one of the most crazy Roman Emperors. It's just the contrary - it's an extraordinary novel in which author tries to give up the stereotypical Caligula's portrait. Alan Massie makes his own, unknown imagination. He reveals the following phases of the Emperor's life - from being Germanik's (Roman Emperor's) favourite child, who was greeted with much joy after the death of Tiberius, up to the last moments of Caligula's insanity. The novel has another good point - author does not avoid the spicy details connected with Roman life, such as sexual contacts between brother and sister and Emperors' bisexuality. Massie's characters are empire's leaders, but they have the same weaknesses as every single human being.
