Macbeth
(William Shakespeare)

Publicidade
Macbeth is considered to be one of the best dramas of shakespeare. As the name suggests, Macbeth is the hero of the play - the tragic hero, who fell by his desire to overreach. The play evokes a lot of magical aspects in it, of which the three wierd sisters stand foremost. They seem to move the course of life for Macbeth. The great soldier, who by his merit fought bravely and defeated the King's rebellious enemies, falls prey to the witches, and becomes completely dependent on them. From being a person who thought highly of his King - his kin - he turns into a man whose path becomes filled with murders - and not just the murdering of men, but women and children as well. His fall from grace began with his murdering of King Duncan to come to the throne. He did not wait for the prophesies of the sisters to be fulfilled in their natural way, but took it upon himself to shape them into reality. His next move was to kill Banquo and his son - for the sisters had prophesised that Banquo's line would suceed Macbeth.Banqou is murdered, but his son escapes. In the meantime, duncan's sons, Malcolm and Donalbain, flee to raise an army against Macbeth to overthrow him. Macbeth, anticipating some danger, goes to the wierd sisters for help. They beguile him into believing that he cannot be killed by any man (so so he reads the prophesy). In the end, he is killed by Malcolm, who was a caeserian baby, and was not born from a mother's womb as such.Macbeth, in addition to being a great tragedy, is also a play which explores human psychology, especially in Lady Macbeth's behavoiur. It is a pay that can thrill anybody with a creative imagination.
