Malachi, The Book Of (o.t)
(Malachi, God)

Publicidade
Malachi, whose name means the messenger of the Lord is about the sovereignty of God, who through Malachi pleaded with God's people and urges them to return to Him---similar message found in other Books near the end of the Old Testament.

God says "I have loved you" and "the Lord will be magnified beyond the border of Israel. He reminds His people that He must receive honor andrespect but they do not, in fact he says that they despised Him and defiled them.
He reminds them that His name will be great and feared among nations but that His people are not following him.

God speaks specifically to the priests threatening that if they do not listen and take to heart what He is saying, that He will curse them, rebuke their offspring. He reminds them that his covenant with Levi, was one of life and peace, given as reverence and accepted with revence saying that he stood in awe of God's name and walked with God in peace and turned away from iniquity. He tells the priest that they have turned many to turn away from Him and caused them to stumble. That was the reason God caused them, the priests, to stumble.

He reminds that one God created his people and that Judah profaned the sanctuary and sought another god, a foreign one. God says that he hates divorce from Him to another god.

He speakkes of the One who is coming...using capital H to refer to him--and will purify the sons of Levi and refine them as gold and silver so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness.

God says that he is against sorcerers, adulterers, liars, those who cheat wage earners, all who turn away from aliens in their midst and those who do not fear Him.

The 3rd Chapter of Malachi contains some of the most quoted words of the Bible, the command to tithe and give offerings, and if they do, He will open the windows of heaven and pour our blessings until it overflows. (modern churches quote this when they want money from members...yet they fail to give attention to all the words of God through the prophets)

God tells His people who return to Him will be called blessed but not until they quit being arrogant against Him, serve him and fear Him. He promises that He will spare those who esteem His name and their names will be written in a book of remembrance. That they must distinguish between those who do serve God and those who do not.

Gos ask them if they remember the law of Moses--the commandents, statutes, the ordinances--given for all Israel, the Chosen children of God. Prophetically, He sais that He is going to send Elijah the prophet before the terrible day--His great and terrible day when He will smite those with a curse as He just told them. That Elijah to come in that day as prophesied, will restore the hearts of those who revere Him.
(some in modern churches say that the Elijah mentioned here is the Messiah.
