Performance is a conceptual blueprint for companies to gain a competitive advantage, and execute a common sense approach to improving Performance management. It offers tools and roadmaps readers can apply and benefit from. It also provides a practical framework for rethinking what performance management is and how it can be used to better execute strategy. It also helps that Stiffler is founder, President and CEO of Synygy, the largest provider of incentive compensation management solutions and a leading supplier of innovative software services. What the author has ignored is the costs and benefits of his Align, Measure, Reward, Report and Analyse plan. Eventually, costs determine plans and Stiffler treats his Action Plans like they don't involve any. Having written that, managers and people in management will perhaps develop an understanding of the concepts quicker than most, and the advise, in a world full of platitudes, seems practical and full of examples.
