Dr. John Hagee is a best-selling author of non-fiction and fiction books and best known for his End-Time writings. He is founder and senior pastor of the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas; a non-denominational evangelical church of some 18,000 members. He founded and is CEO of John Hagee Ministries which broadcasts his weekly radio and television programs to nations around the world, including most third-world countries. Dr. Hagee devotes considerable finances and personal efforts to increase solidarity between Christians and Jews and has received recognition from Jewish Organizations for his active support for the State of Israel.Jerusalem Countdown was written in 2005 and focuses on the rise of Iran as a nuclear power and its conflict with Israel. Dr. Hagee summarizes Iran?s progress in development of nuclear weapons and the threat of the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to wipe Israel off the world map and accomplish a world without either Israel or America. Dr. Hagee goes on to theorize a coalition of countries soon to be aligned against Israel, led by Russia and including Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and Lybia. There is also an indication Iran is developing an electromagnetic pulse weapon, which when exploded at 280 miles above the central U.S., would cut off all electrical power in the U.S. for several months. Dr. Hagee states, based on biblical testimony, that those nations that do not support Israel, including the U.S., will incur God?s wrath, while those who support Israel will receive His blessing.Dr. Hagee broadens the scope of the discussion of conflict between Iran and Israel to the source of the conflict?a conflict of theologies ? Judaism versus Islam. Judaism is based on the documented historical relationship of a people, the Jews, with Jehovah God, intended to usher in the Messiah to save the world from its sin. Islam is based on the claims of a single individual, Muhammed, regarding what his God, Allah, spoke to him through an angel. Islam, through its founder Muhammad, and its holy book the Quran, teaches that it is Allah?s will for Islam to rule the world. Therefore, Islam must defeat Israel, and all other nations including America, for that matter. If this is not accomplished, Muhammad and the Quran are wrong, an unthinkable concept to the Muslim. Muslims, Iranian or otherwise, must defeat Israel for Islamic theology to be true. There is no room for a peace accord for Israel in the minds of Islamic nations. Only Israel?s destruction will fulfill Islam?s goal.Dr. Hagee takes the reader through a brief history of the rise of the State of Israel including its claim to the land of Palestine and the terrible inquisitions against Jews since the sacking of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D. These inquisitions included the military campaigns of the Roman Catholic Church (Crusades), the persecution by Christians during the Dark Ages, the Spanish Inquisition, and the Holocaust. He shows that the Bible?s prophesies regarding the protection of the Jews as a race by Jehovah God continues to be born out and, in the end, the Ahmadinejads of the world will not be successful in wiping out the Jews. On the contrary, the Ahmadinejads will be wiped out.The latter part of Jerusalem Countdown focuses on the prophesies of the Bible related to Israel and the end days and shows what the outcome will be of the coming war in the Mideast. Based on the Bible prophesies, Russia will attack Israel and be terribly defeated by the Lord Himself, then the Antichrist will appear on the international scene as the head of the European Union and will usher in seven years of peace in the mideast. Finally the battle of Armageddon will occur in the Valley of Jehoshaphat, involving the armies of the whole world. This battle will turn to a fight against God Himself when Jesus Christ of Nazareth and His army of angles from Heaven come to put an end to conflict. This will usher in the 1,000-year reign of Christ foretold in the Book of Revelation in the Bible.
