The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane
(Kate DiCamillo)

Publicidade
Even a heart surrounded by china and encased in the softestfur and stuffingcan break. Being a rabbit made of the finest china, dressed in the finest tailor-made clothes, Edward Tulane knows he is a superb specimen of the highest quality. He is special. But he doesn't really understand how special until the exquisite clothes are ripped from his china body and his beautifully handpainted china face is soiled and broken. All he knows is that he is no longer in the lap of luxury, where he thinks he belongs. After being thrown overboard from the Queen Mary, separated from Abilene, thefirst little girl who loves him, Edward begins to change. His pocket watch gone, he loses track of time. From a fisherman, he learns the names of the stars, to which he is inexplicably drawn. From a hobo's lap, he learns the names of loved ones and what it means to miss someone. And from the arms of a child, he learns that even dying can't keep you from loving someone so fiercely it rips you apart.

Edward Tulane drifts in and out of the lives of many people - people who love him and people who hurt him, people whoneed him, people who use him, people who hold him desperately tight but leave anyway, and people who teach him that there is nothing better than loving and being loved, regardless of the pain that often accompanies it. And through it all, through the heartache, the hurt, the joy, the tears, and the loss, Edward Tulane finds his heart. He becomes more than a stuffed china rabbit with bendable ears; he learns to love. And, finally, in the end, he is whole.
