The notion of being Gaelic is a hard issue for those of us who major not only in French, German and English. I must admit I have little sympathy for the leanngs of old Celtic myths and was aroused to great enlightment by the master tongue being used in fluent circles. I had been called many things and like many a famous politician I dislike name calling. Some names are bearable and others are not. Its all very well for Samuel Beckett and his friends to refer to those of us of British ancestry as Murphy or Catholic or whatever but it digs hard into the core of being and creates a terrible intolerance and lack of acceptance of everyone's right to be oneself. The drinking experience in my world has been predominately Tea drinking ... an art form in some classes of society His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, was thrilled absolutely with these poems and drew my attention to the poem "English Tea" "You forgot to say" "Whether or not" "English tea suited you" Of course it does ... excellent poetry and may we all be called to the truth about life and may no other take upon themselves the re-naming of society in such a way as to give offence cause pain and suffering to others or indeed to the selective band of writers like myself known as poets . Yours forever in truth, SM THOMPSON ... Excellent stuff!
