A bit like a rainy day ... you know it will stop,but wish you had taken your hat and left the
umbrella behind as the wind is windy and the rain has stopped. Still, never mind you are over it ..
the broken umbrella lies upside down in a street bin ... where is all this leading to ...
Well, a Collective anthology entitled: Inspired Words ... which contans some fine verse from
SM THOMPSON: Poem title Faith ... leads us out of the darkness of despair into the
light of faith you have got to have faith ... the four line stanza form is brilliantly
crossed with a rhythmic cadence leading to such wonderful lines as ...
"To face the future" "Alone in a crowd" "Tuesday, that's Guardian day" ... brings the reader
bang up to date ... Guardian day is eduation for everyone .... everybody needs a helping
hand and the notion of the Tuesday Guardian offers news, views on employment all round.
"May your road always be straight" is a line that equals the strength of the poet in
a view that the metaphor of someone walking towards the end of the road, creates
an atomic influx of paradiso just around the corner. If you were to turn the corner,
you would be diverted from Paradise at the end of the road.
"Saturday at last, Oh! Happy Day", is indicative of the ending of a long and
arduous experience with rejection after rejection and suddenly at the weekend
the pay cheque your big salary pay comes in and your hard work has finally
paid up!
Maureen Arnold's poem "Life"
"Life is hard, Life is long" the poet talks about weariness of living ... perhaps
because of personal circumstances or the load has become too heavy.
"We endure many blows" leads on from the initial concept of fatigue and
the poet suggests we step out of this fatique into the light of faith ..
The note of optimism is sounded in the line ...
"We must be going to a better place" ... our notion of heaven is
reinforced by this poet ... lovely words and phrases...
