Introduction
It seems that I have gone on a Dilbert reviewing spree. Close on the heels of my review on Seven Years of Highly Defective People comes this review on another interestingly titled Bring Me the Head of Willy the Mailboy!.

The Book
Bring Me the Head of Willy the Mailboy! is a unrelated collection of Dilbert strips. Most of these strips form a series and thus have been framed almost like a collection of short stories.Some of the series that are interesting are:
1) Dogbert unravels the mystery of Dilbert's upward pointing tie.
2) Dilbert dilly dallies with the laws of gravity.
3) Dilbert at last gets fired by the Pointy Haired Boss.
4) Scientist Anti-Defamation League and their struggle to remove the stereotype view of scientists amongst the world.
5) The last but not the least the death of Dilbert!!

You read this correct, Scott Adams has finally killed Dilbert!!

Critic's Viewpoint
Most of Scott Adam's books are outright successes mainly due to two reasons:
1) Dilbert strips are too humorous and pun filled for you to ignore.
2) Usually the books have a centralized theme into which the strips fit in.

In Bring Me..., Scott has moved away from the above success mantra by not having a centralized theme. So the Book is essentially a collection of unrelated cartoon strips. Of course, there are some series within this collection, but these series don't come together to form a bigger picture. This takes a lot of sheen and joy out of the book.It is one thing to write an unrelated comic strip a day for a newspaper and another to actually group them together and come up with an interesting book. Not that this has not been done, but what usually happens is towards the end of the book you start feeling it a bit of a overdose.

Also as no continuity is required to read the book, you put it down too often to really enjoy it as a book.Coming to the strips themselves, some of the strips are quite interesting, but overall these fall short of the high standards set by Scott Adams. The pun is very much there, but it has gone a bit dry. Some of the puns seem to straight away lifts from some of those circulating in the Internet.

The part that disappointed me the most was the death of Dilbert. We were all expecting it to happen one day, but wanted it to be one that all the engineers of the world would love to have, instead it comes as a meek surrender and what follows was also not very much humorous except for the stages of grief shown by Dogbert. Also any Dilbert book that does not have Catbert in it is not sadistic enough to warrant a high rating!! Also Alice and Asok are hardly noticed in this book. So when three of the best characters in Dilbert go missing, the book has to be slightly less humorous!!

Summary
All in all another pun filled, humorous offering from Scott Adams, but definitely not one of his best.I would give this book an average 3 star rating.
