The Gospel of John, Bible
The book of John is the favorite book of the Bible that tells the story and teaching of Jesus after his baptism.
John, the writer, is assumed to be "the beloved desiciple" named John who seemed to the closest to Jesus. He begins his story by describing John the Baptist, not a disciple, came as was predicted to lead the way for Jesus and his ministry.
At the moment of Jesus' Baptism, a white dove appears in the sky as a message from God that Jesus is truly his Son. From there, Jesus walks to perform his first miracle. At the wedding in Cana, the available wine is used up. To continue the celebration, Jesus turns an urn of water into delicious wine. People are amazed at the miracle of the lad who grew up helping his father, Joseph, who was a carpenter.
As Jesus walks to perform his ministry, he heals many people. Those healed included a nobleman's son, a lame man and others.
One of the most taught miracles was performed while Jesus taught people in the outdoors. None of the 5,000 listeners had brought lunch but they were well fed when Jesus gave his disciples loaves of bread and fish. As they distributed it, the meal kept multiplying until every person had enough to eat.
On his journey, a woman was being harassed because she was apparently a prostitute. Jesus approached her and said to the people that the one who was not a sinner should throw the first stone to kill her.No stones were thrown at her because every person knew that he had sinned against God or his fellowman. Jesus then ministered to the woman and she trusted Him and followed Him as her Lord.
The most significant miracle of His ministry was to raise his friend, Lazarus from the dead. When he arrived to visit Lazarus, he was sad to learn from Lazarus' sisters that Lazarus was already in his tomb. When Jesus demanded that Lazarus come forth from the tomb, the tomb opened and Lazarus walked out.
Jesus wanted to teach humility, humbleness, to His followers so he asked that some of them sit while he washed their feet even though they insisted that they should was His feet. He spoke to them about washing each others feet to show humility to their fellowmen.
He told his followers, that for a while, and they would not see him, but later they would see Him again because he would go to see His Father in Heaven, God. He told them that when they could not see Him that they would cry and sorrow. They did not understand what he meant at that time.
Then Jesus was betrayed by Judas who went to the religious authorities who wanted Jesus dead and told them that for 30 pieces of silver that he would tell them when and where they could capture Him. Later at His last evening meal wih the 12 disciples, He told Judas to go and do what he had planned to do. There were then the 11 loyal disciples. After he received the silver, Judas hung himself.
While praying with his disciples, the religious leaders confronted Him. For a moment they were stopped when Peter cut off the ear of one of them. He was put on trial by the Jews who shouted that He should be cruicified when Pilate asked them to tell him to do with Jesus because he could find that Jesus had done no wrong. The crowd yelled that Jesus should die as other criminals on a cross because He claimed to be Lord, the Messiah whom God was sending sometime.
After He was tormented and killed like a common criminal on the cross, Jesus was buried in a friend's tomb. Surprising His followers, He walked out of the tomb the third day and therefore was present with His disciples and followers again, just as Jesus had told them would happen.
The Gospel of John focuses on the miracles and teachings of Jesus, also called the Christ, the Son of God.
The most quoted verse in the Bible is John, chapter 3, verse 16. It says that God loved everyone in the world so He sent his only Son, Jesus, and that everyonecould ask for Jesussave them and believe Him as the Son of God and their Saviour, would not perish when they died, but have everlasting, eternal life in Heaven with God the Father, Jesus the Son and The Holy Spirit of God.
John clarifies that the purpose of his Gospel is to teach the miracles of Jesus and His disciples so that people would believe in Jesus and go to Heaven with Jesus forever.
After Jesus had appeared to many of his followers, he met with them at the Sea of Galilee and told them that they must tell everyone they met near their home, in their community, in their country and throughout the world about Him and everlasting life by believing and having faith in Him as their Saviour and Lord.
Then he surprised them by ascending upward from them to return to Heaven and told them that they would be taken up the same way one day.
