Part of the vast dragonlance series this trilogy could be describes as its crowning glory. It encompasses 3 works firstly 'The dragons of autumn twilight,' secondly 'The dragons of winter night and finally 'The Dragons of spring dawning.' The books can be bought separately but I find this volume has more character and is easier to store. As the tale begins we are introduced to a group of characters who have come back together after many years spent adventuring or soul searching across the land. Tanis, half-elven, the unwilling leader of the group returns to his homeland of Solace to honour the pact that he and his friends made all those years ago. After meeting Tasslehof Burrfoot (a mischievous Kender), Sturm Brightblade (a knightof Solemnia), Flint Fireforge (an aging dwarf with a youthful soul) and the twin brothers Caramon (An experienced warrior) and Raistlin (a mage of unknown purity of heart with a drive for power to equal no others) we are ready to begin the quest to save the world from the Dark Queen. After a fight in an inn causes two barbarians (Goldmoon - chieftain?s daughter, and Riverwind -warrior of the plains and guardian to Goldmoon) and a forgetful wizard called Fitzban to join the group they set off on their journey to find the evil that is tearing their homelands apart. Along the way they pick up two elves (Laurana - an elven princess and Tanis's first love and Gilanthas - her brother and Tanis's former friend) and Tikka, a barmaid and Caramons secret flame. As you can see it is a fun cast of characters who each play their part in the group dynamic and that twinned with the constant action, strange creatures and underlying evil flowing through the book make it anaddictive read that once you begin you won't want to stop!
