(william shakespear)

Shakespeare?s success began with his tragedies. He seemed to have mastered the art of writing tragedy, though he is good in compiling comedy plays also. The world has innumerable characters in it, and one could find almost all types of characters in his plays. Starting from a brave soldier, warrior, king, lover, poet, clown, ghost, miser, father, friend, enemy, etc, all these characters are featured flesh and blood combination. At this juncture I should mention the point that the understanding of the play for a beginner depends also on how his teacher teaches him. Fortunately I got well qualified professors who taught us in such s fashion that every one of us will feel as if we are participating in all the scenes.Coming to his tragedies, Shakespeare literally warns the readers and the audience about the sins and its consequences. As a result we will create a sense of awe and sympathy in ourselves. We pity the character as well as get awareness regarding the sins. When we take ?King Lear?, the hero of the play king Lear is represented as an old man who wishes to hear from his youngest daughter Cordellia, that she loves her father more than anything in the world. Lear?s rashness prevents him from understanding the real love of her daughter who says ?my tongue cannot heave my heart?Later his life goes down to the ditch where the same daughter saves him, though Lear could not recognize that it was his daughter who saved him goes on living in his rashness. The introduction of the character of the Fool is a fantastic essence of the story. The irony is that a clown, who makes the people laugh at his immature activities, acts rather in a complicated way to allow Lear to better know what will happen if he loses the crown . The Fool illustrates with a wonderful example saying that breaking an egg into two pieces results in the empty shells. ?Nothing comes out of nothing? is yet another famous dialogue which carries its meaning throughout the play.? Then coming to other tragedies like ?Macbeth?, ?Othello?, ?Hamlet? have some sort of similarity. All the heroes are comparatively young. The tragic end falls on all these characters due to vaulting ambition, contrary passions, and an pretending madness respectively. The reason for all the tragedies is the same man behind his destiny. Shakespeare teaches the moral that man is the cause of his own action. A student of literature should never miss the chance of going through the works of Shakespeare. To comprehend what happens behind every one?s action one should meet all the characters of Shakespeare. A better knowledge of reading one?s mind can be acquired if all the plays are read with interest and understanding.
