Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee
(Meera Syal)

Publicidade
Not quite expecting her dark, 'unmarriageable' daughter to one-day marry, Chila's very Punjabi mother was now relieved; even thinking about the 'dirty thing' being done to her in that new and frilly pink lingerie, which she so welcomingly bought her. Chila could not even look up at the crowd. That heavy lengha, overwhelmed by fake pearls and gold-plated jewels, so traditional of an Indian bride, allowed only tiny steps behind her soon-to-be husband. A wonderful read about cultural freedom, friendship and betrayal in east London's 'Indian' streets.
